Teaching Experiences
1.
In October 2025, I received the Certificate in College and University Teaching (CCUT) from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Through this comprehensive pedagogical training program, I demonstrated competencies in applying research and principles of student learning, planning equitable and accessible instruction, implementing evidence-based teaching innovations, and effectively instructing as an Instructor of Record. I also developed a teaching portfolio that exemplifies my teaching approach, expertise, and professional growth.

In Summer 2025, I served as Instructor for Geography W12: Maps and Spatial Reasoning at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I redesigned the course and developed quizzes, labs, and course materials for a six-week summer session. Previously, as a Teaching Assistant for the same course during Fall 2021, Winter 2022, Fall 2023, and Winter 2024, I helped redesign the 10-week quarter version, created instructional materials, and led laboratory sessions in which students used labs and presentations to explore and understand the various properties of maps.

3.
From September 2024 to June 2025, I served as Thesis Advisor for Lainey Djajkusuma’s undergraduate honors thesis titled “Co-Benefits in Green Infrastructure Site Selection and Policy: A Case Study of Goleta, California.” In this role, I mentored her through all stages of the research process, from conceptual development and spatial data analysis to writing and presentation of findings.

4.
In Spring 2022, I served as a Teaching Assistant for Geography 5: People, Place, and the Environment at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I led discussion sections for 76 students, where I introduced course assignments, reviewed exam material, and facilitated activities that deepened engagement with lecture content through applied discussion and critical analysis.

5.
From October 2023 to June 2024, I served as an Internship Advisor at Lehman College (CUNY) in the Bronx, New York. In this role, I mentored an undergraduate student completing a 13-hour-per-week, 13-week internship focused on data entry, learning R and RStudio, and creating ArcGIS StoryMaps. I met with the student weekly to provide guidance, review progress, and support skill development in spatial data analysis and storytelling.

6.
During the Summer 20/21 I taught Introduction to Geographic Information Science at LaGuardia Community College. There I led the laboratory portion of this course in which labs were utilized to familiarize students with the GIS software. I also helped transition the curriculum to an online format due to COVID-19.

7.
During the Summer 2019 I taught high school workshops to give participants knowledge about spatial concepts. I also mentored seven Bronx high school students in a geospatial research project in which they compared the quality of life in various U.S. counties by using socioeconomic variables
